Conversations at Work

Sometimes work in annoying. Sometimes it cracks me up.

Bossman: "Carly, I look to you in the ways of fashion. Is this the most hideous tie you've ever seen?"
"Umm... not the most hideous... But most people don't wear paisley anymore."
Him "Oh, well that's too bad, that's what I was going for. To me it looks like someone threw up on it."
Me "Well it matches your pants and shoes, so that's good"
Him: "Oh that's true. I didn't even notice!"
Me: "You can also go the hipster route and tell everyone you're wearing it ironically"

He just laughs and leaves.

Happy Friday everyone.

Kitten Mittens

Brady and I are just laying in bed. The cat comes up.

Me: Oh kitten! Will you give me a pedicure? OH! I bet you totally would, but you don't have opposable thumbs. And you know that, that's why you brought me the dead bird the other day!

B: Do you ever get the feeling that you're weird?

Me: I don't usually listen to myself speak.

Silence.

                      Silence.

                                                Silence.

Me: ARE YOU CATS PAWS TOO LOUD?!

B: Are you drunk right now?

Me: Try the kitten mittens!

For the record, my cat totally needs those.

Lies I Tell You!

So I was driving around earlier thinking about gum and swings. It was a nice break from what normally goes through my head, which is things like puppies, rainbows and the future zombie apocalypse

Not crazy. Prepared.

Suddenly I remembered being in daycare and not being allowed to chew gum. It was banned because there wasn't enough pieces in a pack to share with the whole group. As a kid this made sense, but as a full grown adult daydreaming about bubblegum I realized it was a LIE. What the hell? That doesn't make any sense at all. I totally get not wanting a bunch of 4 year olds chewing gum, but saying it's because there isn't enough for everyone just makes no sense. What if I had brought a plethra of gum? Would we all be blowing bubbles on the swings? I think not.

It's times like this I really worry about... me. Why am I so bothered by this? I have no idea. Also, as I type this I realize that drinking a grande cup of coffee THREE HOURS ago still has me jittery. As bonus I have super awesome thoughts running through my head, unfortunately they're gone before I can remember them. And that is why you get a post about gum and zombies today.

9-11-01

Ten years ago today our lives were permanently impacted. That act of violence was intended to make us tremble and fear, to divide us, and to change our way of life.

On September 11th we were shocked to find out how close we are to the rest of the world. When there is fighting and unrest away, there can be fighting and unrest here. Our sense of security was greatly damaged. However, we also found out was how strong of a country we really are, how great our military, and how deep our patriotism.

So while religious fanatics did alter us as a country, it was not in the way they had intended. We became closer. We loved stronger. And above all we realized just how precious our way of life is. We will not allow hate and oppression to rule our lives. We will not be bullied into changing our values. And we will never forget.
