Catching Up Part 1

Why hello! Let me begin by removing your fears: I'm still alive. And life has been extra sweet and amazing these last few months...

So get comfortable, and I'll fill you in.

Dinner at Ray's
In August I celebrated my 29th birthday. I wasn't too into it. My whole life I had heard jokes about women pretending to be 29 for the rest of their lives, like life ends after that age. I think I wanted to just skip ahead to 30 to avoid being one of those sad weird women. Also, a friend of mine was getting married on my birthday, so I just didn't plan anything. I asked Brady to plan something for us to do the night before and called it good. I came home from work on Friday to a very dressed up Brady. He said he was taking me out, but wouldn't tell me where. I got dolled up, and we headed out. He took me to Ray's Boathouse where we ate delicious food and watched the sun set. Afterwards he asked if I wanted to stop by Golden Gardens and take a walk. It was such a warm, perfect night for it, and Golden Gardens was always "our place", so of course I said yes. We found the beach by accident the first time we had hung out as adults, and we go there a couple times a year. I popped off my heels and we start walking in the sand. Just as I started to recognize some of the faces at the beach, they turned around and yelled "surprise!". I was totally shocked. I had never had a surprise party before, but secretly always wanted one. Brady turned to me and said "I packed a cooler for us, and bunch of clothes for you, so you could chose what you wanted to wear". I got the biggest smile on my face, and thought that this was the most perfect birthday of all time. Somehow my wonderful man managed to satisfy my get-dressed-up-and-do-something-fancy side, as well as my drink-beer-from-a-plastic-cup-with-my-toes-in-the-sand side all in one night. We headed back to the car, changde, and lugged the cooler and firewood back to the group. Just as we get there, Brady gets down on one knee and pops open a box....

And asks me to marry him.

Hands down, my 29th birthday was my best one ever.
